Lake Chelan Habitat for Humanity’s Repairs Program helps qualifying homeowners address critical health, safety, accessibility, and preservation needs so they can remain safely in their homes. Through volunteer labor, community partnerships, and donated resources, we work alongside homeowners to make essential repairs possible.
A Place to Stay Independent
Born and raised in Chelan, Tasheena still lives in the home where she grew up and where she cared for her parents through the final years of their lives. After a life spent caring for others, including working as a caregiver and teacher for young children, she is now learning to accept care herself while working to maintain her independence.

With a safe, accessible bathroom, Tasheena can continue living independently and with greater dignity. “I’ve cared for others my whole life,” she says. “Now I’m learning how to accept care — and how much this community truly cares about me.”
Who is the Repairs Program For?
Our Repairs Program helps income-qualified homeowners address critical health, safety, accessibility, and preservation needs that they may not have the resources to manage on their own. Applicants must meet program and income eligibility requirements, with a household income at or below 80% of the area median income (AMI), and repairs must address qualifying health, safety, accessibility, or preservation needs.
The homeowners we serve are our neighbors—often seniors, people living with disabilities, veterans, and families who have worked hard to build a life here. For many, their home represents stability, independence, and a lifetime of memories, but when a critical repair becomes too costly or difficult to manage, staying safely in that home can suddenly feel uncertain. By helping with these essential repairs, we can step in before a small problem becomes a crisis and help our neighbors remain safely and independently in the homes they have worked so hard to keep.
Program Requirements
If you are a homeowner in need of assistance, we encourage you to review the program guidelines and application materials below.
Applicants must generally:
Own and occupy the home as their primary residence.
Currently in the Lake Chelan Valley (Chelan, Manson, Chelan Falls or Orondo).
Meet household income requirements.
Be current on mortgage and property tax payments (or have an approved payment plan).
Have homeowner’s insurance.
Demonstrate a need for critical health, safety, energy efficiency, or accessibility repairs.
Have the ability to pay an affordable 0% loan of of no more than 20-30% of the total repair cost.
Be willing to partner with Lake Chelan Habitat throughout the repair process.

Our Repairs Program brings together local tradespeople, businesses, schools, and volunteers to help homeowners complete critical repairs. From professional contractors donating their expertise to students gaining hands-on experience through the Chelan High School Trades Program, these partnerships make it possible to provide safe, accessible homes while investing in the skills and generosity of our community.
Some repairs require specialized skills, and are we are always looking for local contractors and skilled tradespeople willing to donate their time and expertise. Your work can help a homeowner remain safely and independently in their home.
